To sleep, perchance to dream...

It is amazing what a good nights sleep will do for you. For the past month or so I have been so focused on finals and getting things done and out of the way so I can enjoy my Thanksgiving trip to D.C. that I've just been going through the motions. and then the other night, I attended a friends art show. I had fun. I was in good company, good drinks, good atmosphere and just felt the 21 years that I am, not the billion years I sometimes believe myself to be. Then I went home and had the most amazing sleep that has ever been slept. The next day was great! I was alert, positive, focused. I'm now ahead of schedule and feeling fine!

Just felt the need to post and pass some good vibes on!

I have found two Icon Table generators at silvinscorner.awardspace.com/icontable/ and lj.indisguise.org/icontablegenerator.php yet neitherare working for me! I have followed the instructions on both to the T, and so I can only assume it's got to be the url's for my images. I have my images online at photobucket. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Can anyone help?

EDIT: Fixed! Thanks  to my brother.

Yesterday and today were nice slow days.

Yesterday Lance had to work so we met up for lunch and had falafel pitas. Not bad, but not something I'd do again. I hit up Strand for about 3-4 hours. Strand is this fanflippintastic bookstore with and awesome photo collection. I found a couple hundred dollars worth of books I wanted. naturally. There was a big freak rain storm, and because neither of us slept well, Lance and I just headed back to the apt. played scrabble, watched How I Met Your Mother, and ate sushi.

Today, we hit up the Bronx Zoo for about 3-4 hours. very enjoyable. great weather. Then we went and saw Avenue Q. SOOO FUNNY! puppet sex. funny funny puppet sex. Then we ate at John's Shanghi where I had "legit" dumplings. Where you pour sauce into the dumpling to cool off the meat balls inside, then suck it back out , then eat the dumpling. again, not bad, but not something I'd do again.

Tomorrow is Kevin Smith!

So, I didn't post yesterday due to exhaustion. It may seem like we didn't do too much, but when you think it takes like 30 mins to walk everywhere, which I am not used to, and then like a another 30 mins of standing in lines, your body get worn out.

Anyway, we got up and headed down to this pizza place near the Brooklyn Bridge. Grimaldi's. It's supposed to be like the best pizza in Brooklyn. The place opened at 12, we must have gotten there at 12:30 and there was a line outside. This place had like a little rope that you waited behind for both eat in and take out. we waited about 30 mins and while we were in line this, I assume, Brooklyn native came up and and was like "you all are waiting in line because you believe or you were told that this pizza is the best, right?" and we were all like "yeah, pretty much." His unpleasant reply: "Well, you're WRONG!" and then he walked off. uh, ok thanks, asshole.  Talk about matters of opinion. But we got ours to go, and went down to this little park just under the bridge and ate our very tasty pizza in the grass. It really was such nice weather and everything.

Afterwards, there was a little street fair going on right next door we checked out. Most of it was overpriced in my opinion, but I got a girft for me and my bestfriend.

My brother told me about this small dog run, which is where only small dogs can go inside this little area and run and play with each other, and it is by far the cutest place on Earth. I love dogs. Big, little, it doesn't matter. Anyway, we spent at least an hour to an hour and a half watching the small dog and the big dog runs. A friend of his who lives close to the run and has a small puppy came by and we all went in the run and and then we just chilled to on some grass in the park.

We totally hit up the original MAGNOLIA BAKERY!  Very tiny little place, filled with baked goods. We got 6 cupcakes, and some small cheesecakes. Very tasty.

Really we just had the day to do as we pleased. I've been to NY a number of times now so I've really hit up all the main tourist places. All thats left is to hit up some places my brother has heard of and just kinda be a local. Which is pretty cool.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

I am in NY this week visiting my brother! It's a nice chance to visit, plus the only vacation I'll get this summer.

Today we went to the BBQ fest in Madison Park. NOT Madison Square Park. Some long lines, but that's to be expected. Good eats. They had Texas, Kansas, and Tennessee styles of BBQ. It got a little rainy so we ducked into the movies. We saw The Hangover.  My brother had already seen it and said it was hilarious and he would be willing to pay NY movie theatre prices to see it again. Very high praise there.

The Hangover = VERY FUNNY. Bradley Cooper is a very very funny guy. I have known this for a few years now, and I'm very happy that everyone will now know! Check out t.v. series Kitchen Confidential. Canceled now, but Cooper was lead. Based on Anthony Bourdain's novel of the same name. Plus, he's easy on the eyes. And really, everyone else was really good. It was a really nice cast and they all seemed to enjoy working together.

More to come. This is how I'm going to remember what I've done.  I always end up forgetting something, not this time!

Who is your favorite mother (the character, not the actress) from television or the movies?

1. Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights. Mother to the whole freaking town.
2. Joyce Summers from Buffy. Did what she could to keep Buffy safe and grounded.

That's all for now!

Finals

I have absolutely no concept of time anymore. Which is not really a good thing right now, because it's like  a week before my finals are due. As an art student there are no tests (THANK GOD) bu there are time consuming projects. and I'm just treating them like I've got all the time in the world. and I so don't.

My painting teacher wants us to do two paintings in two weeks. We typically have one painting in two weeks. I'm am not a strong or fast painter. i just hope to maintain my B in the class.

For my photo final I decided to over achieve for some reason, damn inspiration. God only knows how well it will turn out.

oh hum pigs bum.

Dreams

So, for no real reason at all I have gone and fond myself in a mood. I'm not typically one to be in mood. and it bothers me because with this mood comes the most odd assortment of feelings. Anger, Jealously, Rage, Pettiness, Sadness, Loneliness. I really can't stand when I feel this way, I also know I'm not really good to be around. Upside, I think I know what is causing this.

The past few nights I've been having some pretty violent and bizaar dreams. Now, I can usually recall my dreams really well and decipher what they mean, if anything. My dream last night was the most violent of all three. I just recall repeatedly slapping my friend in the face multiple times, and there was a whole section that took place on an open field and it was kinda like a shoot-em-up video game. (which i do not play, i suck at them and don't really see the point. I'm an RPG girl) and i remember shooting my brother in the field. My brother is one of my best friends. I'm not angry with him in real life.

It's just so odd. I don't know if my feelings are causing my dreams or my dreams causing my feelings.

Inspiration...

So, for my final project for my photo class we have to find a known photographer whose style/subject/whatever inspire us. We then have to emulate them for our project. My teacher keeps saying that we should look to the photographer who inspired us to go into photo in the first place. Good idea. However, (there's always a however) I didn't get into photo because of someone's work. I got into it by working on yearbook in high school. I just did. So there is a LOT of blank canvas for me to fill up. fun and daunting at the same time. Pretty much the motto of being a photo major. I do know that I dig informal portraits. Moments captured when it looks like the subject is in the middle of a conversation or they aren't looking right at the camera. Always makes me wonder what was going on at the time.

Mormon Wedding...

So, on Saturday  I attended the wedding of my best friends brother, who is like my second brother. Recently (year and a half or so) he became Mormon. not a big deal to me. religion for me isn't a hot topic. I have my (Christian) faith and you have whatever you believe. So, because all of the people on the grooms side were not Mormon and most on the bride's side weren't Mormon either they had a vow exchange that allowed everyone to witness. the Bishop kept saying during the vow exchange "this is not the real marriage. I cannot marry them." the basic gist was that this part was just for show. That bothered me. Because to me that was their wedding and marriage as i know a wedding and marriage to be.

Anyway, after the exchange, they went into the temple. This is where I have some major confusion. The hierarchy of the Mormon church. I am not understanding why some Mormons can go in to the temple and why some can't. or why the clothes change? Why can the temple not be open to all who want to the word? If someone could explain this to me in layman's terms that would be great. Cause there are some traditions in every religion that confuse/bother me, which is a main reason why i have my faith and am not a fan of big churches and organized religion.

So, yeah, this is my first post and there prob. won't be a whole lot ever. (I say that now, even as I find myself becoming more and more addicted) Over the summer I am going to try and work on making icons, I've been trying for a while now and don't quite have it down, but soon.

Also, I just wanted to say thank you to luciademedici and ewoyn_girl for their amazing fics in two of my fave geekdoms. I have read their stories over and over and love them every freakin time. So, thank you!
